In 2020, he completed his six-year medical education at the University of Tartu, after which he assumed the role of the on-call physician at a rural hospital in southwestern Finland. He gained invaluable experience in the emergency department where he encountered numerous patients with psychiatric concerns, amongst other acute medical problems. It was this experience that ignited his passion for mental health.
In 2022, Dr. Martin began his five-year residency in the field of psychiatry, driven by a commitment to improve the well-being of those in need, especially younger individuals.
Moreover, he has a deep interest in psychopharmacology and evidence-based medicine. Dr. Martin has been writing and medically reviewing articles at WhatMedicine since the inception of the organization.

Dr. J. Martin finished his psychology-focused secondary education in 2012, after which he immediately entered the world of healthcare by pursuing further studies in physiotherapy at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. As his interest in the mind and body grew, he transitioned into medical school in 2014.
